14th GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference

The global Agri-Nutrients industry currently stands at a pivotal crossroads: on one hand, it is responsible for nourishing the steady, on the rise global population, with the demand for food projected to rise by over 50% by 2050. On the other hand, it needs to tackle the challenge of paving a sustainable pathway for the future as the majority of (Nitrogen based) Agri-Nutrients production today is based on natural gas.

This critical juncture, however, presents the industry with a unique opportunity. Innovation can act as a major catalyst to improve the sustainable efficiency of the sector along the value chain. Implementation of various strategies such as advanced technologies to formulate and produce Agri-Nutrients, along with precision nutrient delivery techniques and data-driven management, can address both challenges, of food security and climate change simultaneously. The significance of supporting and investing in emerging economies should also not be discounted to achieve these targets as the population growth in the upcoming decades is expected to stem from these regions predominantly. Hence, supporting them will play a crucial role in attaining global food security and climate targets.

The industry is also uniquely positioned to support the energy transition landscape. A global emphasis on reducing greenhouse gas emissions has prompted nations to shift towards decarbonized economies. To meet these objectives, the use of clean energy technologies must be significantly expanded and accelerated. Hydrogen emerges as a promising, scalable clean energy alternative. Ammonia, which doesn’t release carbon upon combustion and can be stored and transported easily, is increasingly seen as a potential hydrogen source for clean energy for various applications. Industry experts predict that by 2050, hydrogen could satisfy about 20% of the world’s energy demand, a substantial increase from less than 1% today. Hence, by decarbonizing ammonia production, the Agri-Nutrients industry could play a pivotal role in the global transition to cleaner energy.

The 14th edition of the GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference, held under the theme, “Agri-Innovation: Powering a Food-Secure & Climate-Smart Planet,” will explore these advancements and foster collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to develop a roadmap for a food-secure and climate-smart future.

The Conference has built its rich legacy over the past 13 years as the preeminent gathering uniting key stakeholders in the regional Agri-nutrient sector. From producers and blenders to distributors, food cultivators, brand owners, technology providers, and international food organizations, this conference offers an unparalleled opportunity for industry leaders to engage in discussions, exchange technical insights, and shape impactful strategies.

This year, the 14th GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference introduces three exciting new additions:
