The Awards took place in a star-studded award ceremony during the 15th GPCA Supply Chain Conference on 15 May 2024 at the Address Sky View Hotel, Dubai, UAE


Dubai, UAE, 16 May 2024 – The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), the voice of the chemical industry in the Arabian Gulf, is pleased to announce the winners of the 5th GPCA Supply Chain Excellence Awards, which took place in a star-studded award ceremony during the 15th GPCA Supply Chain Conference on 15 May 2024 at the Address Sky View Hotel, Dubai, UAE.

Following the success of the 4th GPCA Supply Chain Excellence Awards, the series returned for its 5th edition to recognize and celebrate excellence across four key categories, attracting a total of 34 submissions from 22 companies across the GCC.

An esteemed panel of judges comprising leading industry experts selected the finalists in the Supply Chain Innovation, Best LSP of The Year, Excellence in Sustainability, and Women in Supply Chain categories. The Awards were open to all regional chemical supply chain and logistics operators and providers, who have developed and integrated innovative and sustainable solutions in their operations.

The winners in each category received a trophy of recognition as well as a certificate during the award ceremony.

The winners and finalists at this year’s Awards are:

Category 1: Supply Chain Innovation Award

The winner in this category TASNEE impressed the jury with their Procurement function’s Robotic Process Automation, which not only enhanced operational efficiency, but it also fostered supplier diversity, and maximized the strategic use of agreements.

Unilever was highly commended as the runner up in this category for their Smart Batch Execution System (SBES) in their Dubai Personal Care products production factory. Unilever was praised for adopting the system, which revolutionized the manufacturing process, ensuring improved efficiency and accuracy.

Category 2: Best Logistics Service Provider (LSP) of the Year

PSA BDP scooped Best LSP of the Year at the 5th GPCA Supply Chain Excellence Awards for demonstrating agility and excellence and providing efficient service and reduced risk and delays.

DP World came in second. The judges highly commended them for their ability to deliver exceptional service through the strategic implementation of robust processes, comprehensive business plans, and innovative strategies.

Category 3: Excellence in Sustainability Award

QAFCO beat the competition in this highly coveted category and won the Excellence in Sustainability Award for their Environmental Management System, which ensures minimized environmental impact of QAFCO’s fertilizer production.

The runner-up in this category, TruKKer, were recognized for their ongoing backhaul optimization project, including their comprehensive strategy to optimize backhaul routes.

Category 4: Women in Supply Chain Award

The winner in this category is Fatma Al Kaabi, Team Lead Plastics & NGLE, OQ for implementing innovative supply chain strategies and cost-cutting initiatives, which made significant contributions to OQ and the broader industry.

Coming in second place is Maram Al-Dossary, working under the global procurement services for the MEA region, at SABIC. Maram was praised for her work in helping to meet objectives, and effectively utilizing AI tools which have added significant value to the company.

Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA, commented: “Congratulations to all winners and finalists at this year’s GPCA Supply Chain Excellence Awards on their ingenuity, commitment to excellence and dedication to advancing the supply chain function in the GCC.”

“Although there could only be one winner in every category, we are proud of all nominations submitted at this edition and recognize the effort and hard work which went into realizing the achievements of all nominees.
