GPCA Leaders of Tomorrow

The Leaders of Tomorrow program is an initiative launched by GPCA and with the support of our members, it aims at building the local human capital in the region. The initiative falls under one of the three pillars of the association which is advocacy by promoting STEM and bridging the gap between academia and the industry. Leaders of Tomorrow is considered as the first official collective step where industry stakeholders collaborate in shaping skills and preparing the future industry leaders with the required skills set.

The initiative consists of a year-round program where GPCA member companies sponsor university students from around the GCC to attend the GPCA yearly conferences (you can find all our conferences listed below, click on the image to visit the website for more details).

Each conference will cater to the participating students by encompassing an element of the initiative in the form of a seminar, workshop, roundtable and site visit.  The main goals of these activities are to provide the students opportunities to learn more about industry trends and will give an overview of the skill set that are required to face new challenges.  It will also support member companies with the local talent acquisition process.

Each edition will provide a certain focus on key topics/theme and will highlight the attractiveness of a career in the chemical industry and the opportunities for the future. It will give the students a foundation in what factors drive the chemical industry, its future direction and how it can help meet economic and societal challenges. In addition to that, the program offers significant networking opportunities.

In the year 2020, GPCA launched the exclusive Leaders of Tomorrow Alumni network. This virtual group has proved to be a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration among members of the various cohorts of the GPCA Leaders of Tomorrow program since its launch in 2016.

Through this group, we aim to strengthen the ties between our Leaders of Tomorrow Alumni and leading petrochemical companies in the region. We truly believe that they are the bright future of the industry and the industries contribution to this group will play a key role in building the knowledge and skillset they require to succeed in their career.

GPCA also recently introduced a Virtual Mentorship program for Leaders of Tomorrow Alumni to bridge the gap between academia and the chemical industry by a series of structured and impactful interactive discussion between Industry Leaders and LoT Alumni.
