What is STEM?
The STEM acronym stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM is essential because of its involvement in every part of our lives. Science is everywhere in the world around us. Technology is continuously expanding into every aspect of our lives. Engineering is the basic designs of roads, bridges and safe construction of buildings, and tackles growing challenges of an alarming change in global weather and helps develop environmentally friendly alternatives to our home. Mathematics is used in every occupation and every activity we undertake in our lives.
Why STEM?
As a result of scientific and technological breakthroughs, current job roles are disappearing and being replaced with new phenomena’s such as automation, with this shift, new industries are emerging and new skill sets are required for workforces at all levels, resulting in an increase in demand for STEM education and skills and will continue to be on the rise in the future. To be competitive and relevant, companies need individuals who are resilient and can adapt to the new reality of a changing workplace. STEM provides and empowers the future workforce with the skills to succeed and adapt to this changing workplace and the new emerging job roles.
